This family wanted to finish their basement and turn it into a comfortable, multi-functional, living space. Among their requests included a fireplace, a gym, a three piece washroom, a kitchenette, a place where their kids could shoot hockey pucks and plenty of storage.

A STUNNING ENTERTAINMENT SPACE

The clients wanted to create a temperature controlled wine cellarium that was jaw-dropping!  The finished space should be the backdrop for an entertaining area for wine tastings with friends as well as a haven for watching golf and other sports in the lower basement area in their home. A stunning wallpaper in multiple shades of blues, greys and specks of sparkly gold was selected as the focal point of the space. The look of exquisite marble in the wallpaper inspired the rest of the room which featured pops of blues, mint and other jewelled tones. A rich cedar wood was chosen for the 300 – bottle racks which lined the rear wall of the cellarium

AN INVITING SPACE FOR WINE TASTING

The clients are wine collectors and enjoy hosting gatherings in which they can serve wine from their collection. The problem was that they did not have a dedicated space to do so. With two kids, the main living areas were not conducive to entertain while imbibing in adult beverages. The home was built in the 1920s, and is quite sturdy and spacious, but there was not any place on the main floor where an adult haven could have been created.
