Is your ensuite bathroom starting to show its age? Trends in bathroom design have changed significantly over the past few decades, and what was once considered a “must have” may now be a “must go”. Case in point: this stunning transformation that took our client’s ensuite from dated to dreamy.
A major renovation like this can be daunting, and our clients were experiencing decision paralysis. Feeling stuck, they turned to us for help coming up with a plan for the serene master retreat they’d been dreaming of.
When planning a bathroom renovation, there are many important considerations. Two big things that usually need to be addressed when updating an older bathroom are the layout and the lighting.
In this project, a few minor adjustments to the layout made much better use of the available space. We eliminated the bidet, removed the wall between the vanity and toilet, and incorporated more storage in the cabinetry.
The focal point in the new bathroom is a beautiful freestanding soaker tub to take in the views of the forest outside.
Good lighting is essential in every room, but especially in the bathroom. We increased the overall lighting with pot lights in the ceiling and added decorative sconces flanking the mirror for an additional design element.
With its busy floral wallpaper and dark forest green tub, the bathroom wasn’t the calm, relaxing space our clients wanted. Taking inspiration from the view outside, we selected a warm wood-look tile for the floors that is a perfect complement to the classic white cabinetry and fixtures. Bonus: the flooring is heated for extra comfort on chilly mornings!
For privacy, we installed simple roller shades in a faux grasscloth fabric that lend additional texture and warmth to the space. Soft blue accents in artwork and accessories help bring the neutral colour scheme to life.
The shower features full panes of glass on two sides, giving the space an open and airy feel and allowing for unobstructed sightlines to the woods outside.
A complete bathroom renovation is a complex process with many different steps. By offering a full service approach, we can help our clients with everything from choosing fixtures, colours and finishes to scheduling deliveries and navigating any unforeseen challenges.
