A Fabulous & Functional Home Office

This study is used by the client’s husband for business and personal purposes. While she wanted the space to reflect his interests, she also wanted it to be visually appealing to everyone. We wanted the space to keep with the rest of the home while still feeling like its own space. Since the client loves deep jewel tones, we utilized deep blue and emerald green in the other spaces in the home. For the study, we changed it up and decided to use deep blue and copper as accents. Lastly, the client decided that she did not want to add window treatments to the space.

As with the rest of the home, the study had high ceilings. The built-ins were added in the room as storage and to add balance with the heights of the windows in the room. We decided to address two main areas, the ceiling and the walls. To draw your eye up to the coved ceiling, we wallpapered the ceiling in a metallic copper grasscloth. This wallpaper was chosen to give the room a pop of colour and a perfect sheen from the metallic copper. We chose to also wallpaper the walls as we would not be adding window treatments in this room. The wallpaper we selected was a neutral design which added some curve to all the straight edges in the room. The perfect amount of pop! We added a large area rug in a deep blue and copper colours, covering most of the floor. The desk we selected has the same deep stain as the built-in shelves, preventing the room from becoming too feminine. The chair chosen has curved lines a great tone-on-tone greek key pattern. The cute copper table and copper pillow pull together the seating in the corner of the room, without being too outdone. The open shelves are a great place for displaying the client’s library of books and sentimental pieces they collect. This space turned out to be a great space to spend one’s time working for business or personal purposes.
