A Fun & Sporty Bedroom

Before

The client’s 10-year-old son loves sports, everything football and baseball to soccer and basketball. Since this boy is neat and likes to keep his room clean, he wanted an organized space. The parents wanted queen size beds for the boys to grown into so they did not have to be changed as they were older. While the parents wanted an uncluttered space, we also wanted to keep the rooms open as rough housing between brothers does occur.

After

For this space, we wanted something on the wall that would capture the eye the moment you walk in, something that you would make you say, “Wow!” We used a company to create a sports-themed wallpaper mural reflecting the many different sports the boy loved. We used a lower profile queen bed in a driftwood finish to allow maximum visual for the mural. We used striped plaid bedding in grey, white and red, pulling colours from the mural. We also utilized these colours on the walls in the rest of the room. For the wall across from the bed, we used the red accent colour and kept it clear to display artwork and sports pictures. This wall would also have a console with pull out wood totes to hold any of his books and personal items. In order to keep the room from being too cluttered, we did not use any other furniture. We designed closets that had shelving and drawers to organize all of his clothes. We did add an end table and lamp by the bed for reading at night before they go to bed. A couple of pouff’s give them just a little bit of seating if needed.
