A Modern Nursery to Child’s Room

Before

This client lives in a beautiful home and had never updated their now adult children’s bedrooms. One bedroom needed to transform into a nursery for their first grandchild. The design had to be such that the room could grow from a nursery to a child’s room for up to two children. A new custom closet solution was required as well. The client wanted to eliminate visual clutter in the room and use a colour and furniture scheme that would make sense with the rest of the house with an end result of a cheerful and bright bedroom with a modern feel, with easy-to-care-for washable bedding.

After

This room was a complete redo. The only item that stayed was stuffed animal dog “Wrinkles”. Two-floor plans were provided. One plan used as a nursery now, the other for children’s bedroom later. We selected a palette of calming blues, ice to ocean, a bit of navy, added grey for contrast and to tie in with the greys of the rest of the house, clean-lined white case goods – and a pop of orange for fun! Using a range of fabric textures we added interest without taking away from the clean look of the room. For the bedding, we used products and fabrics from a washable line blending a sea coloured coverlet with a striped duvet cover, and tangerine sham. Finally, a large custom closet was created for the room in keeping with the “grow and grow up with me” multiple child strategy.
