Project Overview:

The biggest pain point our clients had with their home is that it wasn’t set up for entertaining. For years they wanted to remove the two walls separating the kitchen from the living room and dining room and were so happy when we agreed that was the right solution.

Design Solution:

As always, the first step is determining the best layout for the kitchen. In this case, by removing the walls, we were able to add a nice sized island. The island added the functionality of a pull-out recycling drawer, seating for two and a microwave drawer. We moved the fridge to the perimeter wall and added drawers for accessible storage. The dining room also received a makeover with the addition of new furniture as well as custom built-ins in the niche for their pantry and small appliances. The backsplash is the homeowners favourite part as it creates such an impact in this open concept space. All the furniture, lighting and artwork were chosen with care to coordinate with the choices in the rest of the house.

What our client said:

Making some big changes to our little bungalow has been on our “one day” list for a very long time. We always had a rough idea of what we wanted (removing a wall between the kitchen and living space, updating the kitchen cabinets) but we weren’t confident in pulling it all together on our own. Meeting Natalie made the decision that much easier. Not only did she come up with a great design for our space … she took the time to listen to us, understand our social and everyday life, and incorporate 2 styles that we love and make it a warm, cozy and functional home. – Barb Bowie
