As an older home the clients were hoping to gain a main floor powder room as well as a new kitchen and family living area. A new addition was required to blend with the old to make a seamless transition.
Design Solution:
During the demolition phase, it was determined that a major supporting structure would have to remain, so the plan had to adjust accordingly with the wall extending further across the family room area.
Flooring had to transition from the older part of the house into the new. All the paint colours were changed to update the look.
The changes to the plan to accommodate the post as well as keeping the new powder room worked well giving additional privacy to the doorway. The cathedral ceiling gave a wonderful dimension to the newly built family room. The new space blends seamlessly with the old.
The new custom kitchen with a combination of white and vibrant blue with the black granite counter presents a sophisticated tone. Black accents bring it all together
