Project Overview:

This family wanted to finish their basement and turn it into a comfortable, multi-functional, living space. Their requests included an electric fireplace, a gym, a three-piece washroom, a kitchenette, a place where their kids could shoot hockey pucks and plenty of storage.

Design Solution:

The first thing you see when you come down the stairs is the gorgeous fireplace in a concrete-looking tile. Beside the lounge area is a lovely table and chairs where the family can play board games. Across from the table is wall-to-wall built-in cabinetry that provides the family with beautiful, functional storage.

We selected a beautiful wool wall-to-wall carpet in the main living space and then transitioned to a luxury vinyl that looks like hardwood. Vinyl was appropriate for the kitchenette, bathroom, and gym due to its durability and softness. We extended the luxury vinyl tile onto the wall behind the hockey net for an interesting accent wall that can withstand some errant pucks.

The end result is everything that this family had dreamed of and they are excited to enjoy their space for years to come!

What our client said:

Working with Natalie on our basement and mudroom redesign was such a relief. She helped us plan our space and made the process so much easier. She presented options but didn’t overwhelm us, making decision-making so much easier for me. We are so happy with the process and the finished product. We will enjoy our spaces for years to come! Thank you, Natalie!
