Project Overview:

This military family wanted to set down some roots and personalize their beautiful suburban home. They were excited to add custom cabinetry to their dining room and family room, as well as add character to their foyer to make a welcoming first impression.

Design Solution:

The first thing we did was establish how they wanted to use each space and the overall feel they wanted to achieve. It was determined we needed to mix transitional and traditional to appease both homeowners.

For the dining room, we reconfigured the layout to make room for a bar and sitting area. The dining table was moved to the front of the room and a new chandelier was placed above their existing table. Custom built-ins painted in a beautiful deep teal added the perfect amount of drama and storage to the room. Two cognac coloured leather swivel chairs create a welcoming space for an after dinner drink.

We also added a floor-to-ceiling, wall-to-wall entertainment unit in the family room. This was complete with new audio-visual equipment and a new turn table. There is plenty of space for their record collection behind closed doors and then lots of space for family photos and memorabilia on the open shelves.

What our client said:

We were very pleased with Natalie’s focus on quality and service, not just with the design but also with the many aspects of the project management. She expertly translated the style elements of our family and realized a beautiful space that finally feels like home. We absolutely love it!
