Project Overview:

This client was moving on her own in a condo after her husband passed away. She was overwhelmed with choices, however, she knew the look she wanted to achieve was feminine and Parisian. The room was a blank slate, except she wanted to keep her nightstands and dresser. She was accustomed to country living, so creating a warm, quiet and dark space for her to rest was a priority.

Design Solution:

Inspired by her collection of blue and white pottery, we wanted to bring in tones of cream, blue, taupe and white into her bedroom. The jumping-off point for the room was the beautiful bedding collection that brought in all the colours and textures we were looking for. To add some extra softness, a custom headboard was made in creamy velvet. The ceiling height wasn’t sufficient for a hanging chandelier so this oversized semi-flush fixture fit the space wonderfully and adds some beautiful sparkle. We even filled the awkward nook in the room with a custom cabinet for much needed overflow storage. Getting a good night’s sleep was a priority and creating a dark space was a challenge due to some street lights outside her window. The solution was to do light filtering shades with a blackout shade behind to block the light. The side panels soften the wall and help to diffuse sound. She was thrilled with the result!

What our client said:

Natalie was instrumental in making the design process easier for me by ensuring the selection of colours, drapery, furniture and lighting worked well together and reflected my personal style. Her passion for her work was evident throughout. She provided excellent service and follow-up and it has been my pleasure to work with her. I would highly recommend her interior decorating services.
