Project Overview:

The clients recently downsized to a contemporary bungalow, transitioning from a traditional home in Toronto. However, their existing traditional furniture and decor did not align with the sleek, modern aesthetic of their new space. The clash between the traditional pieces and the contemporary setting, characterized by modern black light fixtures and accents, posed a design challenge that needed to be addressed.

Design Solution:
We successfully achieved a harmonious balance between the contemporary finishes of the home and the clients’ traditional taste by introducing lighter tones and completely redecorating the living room. By re-framing the paintings and pulling similar tones from them into the area rug and accents within the space, we created a cohesive and inviting atmosphere. This not only served to integrate the traditional elements seamlessly into the contemporary setting but also created a focal point within the room, enhancing its overall aesthetic appeal.

What our client said:
Marina helped us turn our ‘house’ into our home, advising us on how to decorate and furnish the entire open area on the first floor of our house. She took the time upfront to ask us a lot of questions so she knew our likes/dislikes/wishes. She thought through even the smallest details — lightbulbs! Curtain ties! Her presentation was thoughtful, organized, and thorough, and she was open to revisions and revisiting patterns and materials. Marina answered all our questions and was available with any questions and concerns we had along the way. I have the utmost admiration for her professional skills and I really enjoyed working with her as a person. I highly recommend her to anyone for any interior design project. I expect to ask her help for with a couple of rooms we have left in the near future.
