A Fun & Cozy Family Room

Before

This client was moving from their previous home of 32 years, which was traditional reds and golds. In her new 3 story home, she was wanting clean lines and wanted to use nothing from her previous home. We took her style and tried to give her the comfort of the traditional pieces, but with a more transitional look to match the architecture of the home. In the family room, the clients wanted to maximize seating options, an entertainment center that would accommodate their 72-inch television, all while giving them a fun, cozy atmosphere.

After

Overscaled abstract art introduced the colour palette for this family gathering space. Bright and energetic fabrics were used on the grey herringbone pattern sectional. A sophisticated taupe/grey leather recliner was also added for additional seating. The large reclaimed wood entertainment center with kaleidoscope design detail was used to anchor the oversized television. A custom-finished cocktail table in cream with a grey wash was placed on a large cream and silver ribbed rug. A textured turquoise accent table married the sectional and recliner. A whitewashed chairside table provided a pleasant contrast to the grey sectional. Behind the sectional, a reclaimed wood, multicoloured sofa table provided storage and surface for additional lighting. Three lamps added ambiance to the room; a highly textured ivory lamp with an acrylic base, a mirrored square lamp, and a fluted mercury glass lamp. An X based ottoman was placed in the corner of the room for additional seating. Three button tufted rollback barstools in a charcoal linen fabric were placed at the open bar area. Simple, distressed, and reflective accessories were used to complete this room.
