An Elegant & Rustic Dining Room

Before

The clients, a young family, purchased the home but wanted to bring life to the space and make it their own. One of their main concerns was the oak floors which appeared to be way too orange. They wanted to update the look of the dining room to reflect their taste /style which they described as “Elegant but with a rustic vibe”. The dining room furnishings would be eliminated to create a blank slate from which we could create their dream space.

After

First, the wood floors were stripped and then stained a beautiful charcoal to reflect the client’s more transitional taste. Next, a warm greige colour paired with bright white on the trim was added to the walls to create a most wonderful neutral foundation for the rest of the furnishings. A beautiful twig-inspired area rug in neutral tones of beige, taupe and light grey set the stage for the impressive trestle table with a lightly distressed Antique Brownstone finish and its upholstered dining chairs in an ivory tweed linen chenille fabric. A striking orb chandelier in an organic driftwood above the table provide a rustic element along with a matching driftwood mirror in a light walnut stain.
